John Welcomes major investment in Weston Hospital A&E’s Future

Weston’s MP John Penrose has welcomed the news that Weston Hospital will receive £842,600 of Government cash to improve their A&E facilities.

The funding has been allocated to ensure the department is ready to provide the very best care to local people during the winter months and serves as proof of a long-term commitment to Weston Hospital by the Government.

John said, “Everybody knows Weston’s A&E has had its problems of late, fuelling irresponsible rumours about its future. This grant shows a genuine long-term commitment to the Hospital’s future, and the A&E department in particular, by Ministers and senior NHS Chiefs who are putting their money where their mouth is. This will help the Hospital improve facilities and reduce waiting times.”

The Government has suggested the Hospital consider building a GP practice within the A&E where those with less urgent needs can receive treatment, helping to alleviate pressure.
