Weston’s MP welcomes approvals of land purchases needed for Banwell Bypass

The Department for Transport has written to North Somerset Council to confirm the use of Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) needed to build the Banwell bypass. Responding to the news, Member of Parliament for Weston-super-Mare John Penrose said:

“Work on the Banwell bypass was in danger of being delayed for months if key Government approvals for some of the land deals didn’t arrive in time. So when the Council called, I was keen to help. After a lot of calls, lobbying and plenty of goodwill on all sides, I’m delighted the permissions arrived in the nick of time for the Council to get on with the job. We’ve been waiting for decades for the bypass, and no-one wants it to take a moment longer.”
