Weston’s MP Welcomes Latest Government Investment of £4.9M For New Stroke Rehab Centre At Weston Hospital

Weston’s MP John Penrose has welcomed news that in addition to Weston’s recently-announced new diagnostics centre, Weston Hospital will receive £4.9M Government cash to create a new stroke rehabilitation centre.

The centre is expected to expand Weston hospital’s capacity, allowing it to treat more patients for a wider variety of illnesses, and also to free up 12 existing beds to reduce local waiting lists too.

John said: “This is great news for Weston hospital, It means local stroke patients can get the all-important rehabilitation they need without having to trek in and out of Bristol for each session, and should bring down post-pandemic waiting lists as well. More fundamentally, it is the second major investment to expand our local healthcare in a matter of weeks, which makes huge sense for a growing town like Weston.”
