MP Welcomes Investment in Weston’s Local Artists

Weston’s MP, John Penrose, has welcomed news that Arts Council England has chosen two Weston-based arts organisations, Theatre Orchard and Trigger Productions, to receive grants of over £600,000 pounds. The money is to support, develop, and champion the work of local artists, and both Theatre Orchard and Trigger Productions have a strong history of delivering imaginative events in public spaces.

John said: “Funding from Arts England is hugely competitive, so the fact we have two local organisations winning their bids for significant amounts of cash says a lot about the quality of their plans and of the artists they have involved too. We’ve had huge cultural events in Weston over recent years, going back to Banksy and more recently See Monster. New, interesting, regular events put on by organisations such as Theatre Orchard and Trigger build on this legacy, continue entertaining locals and give tourists an ever-changing program of culture and heritage worth their time (and money) to visit!”
