Weston’s MP Welcomes £2.8million to Support Levelling Up

Weston’s MP John Penrose has welcomed over £2.8million in Government cash to support levelling up Weston and North Somerset.

The funding comes as a result of the Council’s Community Renewal Fund bid that John wrote to the Government in support of back in July.

The money will be put towards a number of projects aimed at increased business resilience, boosting local employability, work towards zero carbon targets, and a series of community hubs

John said: “This is a large sum of money from the Government for imaginative new approaches and programmes that unleash local potential and instil pride in the community. I’m a huge believer in levelling up areas outside of London – it brings money into our local economy; makes it easier to succeed for existing businesses and more attractive for new businesses to come here; it means improved opportunities, wages, and living standards for people who live here too. Like everyone in Weston, I look forward to seeing this money put into action!”
