Weston-super-Mare Jobs Fair Returns to Connect Local People With Record Vacancies

Weston-super-Mare Jobs Fair Returns to Connect Local People With Record Vacancies

Weston-super-Mare’s Jobs Fair organised by MP John Penrose is back for its eighth year, with over 40 local and national employers looking to fill hundreds of local jobs.

The event takes place on the 10th November 2021 at the Winter Gardens between 10.30am and 1.00pm, and is free to attend with no pre-event registration required.

Businesses in attendance and looking to fill vacancies include: Smart Systems, Brandon Trust, Cadbury House Hotel, Thatcher’s Cider (all sponsors) plus Yeo Valley, GBRS Construction, Priory Learning Trust, The Army, EDF Energy, Tesco, Weston College, North Somerset Council and many more too!

John Penrose said: “Over the past few months I’ve had many local businesses reach out to me asking when the Jobs Fair was coming back (after we had to put them on hold due to Covid!). What we’re seeing locally is similar to what’s happening nationally, there’s a record number of vacancies meaning organisations in all sectors from manufacturing to hospitality to retail to transport to care and beyond are looking for people to join their teams. On the flip side of this, I know there are local people who were made redundant due to Covid and others who had plenty of time to think during the various lockdowns and decided they fancy a change in career path. The Jobs Fair is a way to match up these record job vacancies with people looking for work.”

Sponsors Smart Systems said: “Smart Systems has been sponsoring the Weston –Super- Mare jobs fair for a few years, it is a fantastic event enabling potential employees to visit employers for an informal chat to discuss job opportunities and how they can utilise their skills and experience. Smart Systems is a successful growing local business, we have many roles where there is no entry level, we provide all training enabling those with no experience to start a rewarding career with flexible hours to suit the individual. We look forward to meeting you on 10th November”

Sue Porto, Chief Executive of Brandon Trust, said: “We are delighted to be able to sponsor the jobs fair at the Winter Gardens. As a social care provider in the area, we value the partnerships we have with the local community. The jobs fair not only supports the local job market but us as an employer. We are looking forward to meeting with job seekers at the event, highlighting the inspiring work our colleagues do and the rewarding roles we are recruiting for. ”

Sponsors Thatcher’s Cider said: “As a growing business, we’re always looking for people to come and join our family. If you’re interested to find out more about the range of exciting opportunities we have here at Thatcher’s, then we look forward to chatting with you at the Weston Jobs Fair. For us it’s not just about placing people in a job but providing a career to flourish in.”

Job hunters will also be able to get career and interview advice from local organisations such as Jobcentre Plus, as well as learn about apprenticeships and courses from Weston College.

This year there is also an active Facebook Events Page. Simply search ‘Weston Jobs Fair 2021’ and click ‘Interested’ to get updates about the event and from organisations attending.
