More Safe Space for Walking and Cycling ‘Healthier and Greener Too’ Says Weston’s MP

John Penrose Weston’s MP has welcomed news that North Somerset will get almost £1/2 million to create safe spaces for cycling and walking.

Local schemes include a new cycling corridor on Baker Street and Milton Road; stopping cars ‘rat-running’ to create safer cycle and walking links to the town centre; and several schemes for pupils to cycle or walk to and from schools as well.

John said: “We all know we ought to walk or cycle more, particularly during the pandemic. It’s healthier, and greener too. But sometimes busy roads with lots of cars can stop our good intentions from happening. This extra cash will create safer, more welcoming routes so more of us can get on and do what we’ve been meaning to for years.
