John is looking to recruit a full or half time caseworker

John Penrose, Member of Parliament for Weston, Worle and the surrounding villages, is looking to recruit a full or half time caseworker as medium-term sick-leave cover. 

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, highly organised, with keen political awareness and views sympathetic to the Conservative Party. Helping local people to find answers to policy related questions will be a key part of this role and experience using case management software would be advantageous. 


Key responsibilities include but not exclusively:

  • Drafting and mailing letters to residents on a range of issues
  • Dealing with enquiries from constituents
  • Liaising with Government departments, local councils and other organisations
  • Helping to communicate aspects of John’s work to relevant audiences 
  • Research local, regional or national issues to support the MP’s work
  • Secretarial and administrative office support, file management, mail handling


The successful candidate will have:

  • Keen political awareness and be sympathetic to Conservative Party values
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working with members of the public
  • An ability to take the initiative and work proactively to manage competing deadlines, to prioritise tasks and work independently
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially in written communications
  • The ability to work in a sensitive and confidential manner at all times
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office packages
  • Experience with customer / case management software would be helpful
