Weston’s MP, John Penrose, has welcomed figures showing that Weston’s local schools will get significantly increased funding per pupil as he’s been demanding for years.
Local schools will get an average 5.0% cash boost per pupil – one of the largest in the country – to an average of £4655 (primary) and £6597 (secondary) in 2020-21.
John said: “This is incredibly good news. It’s vindication for all the years I and local teachers, governors and parents have spent arguing that our schools got a raw deal compared to similar areas in cities. Funding ought to reflect each school’s teaching needs, so I will be speaking with teachers and headmasters across the area to make sure the Government has got this right.”
