Weston MP welcomes £3.2million extra NHS funding

Weston’s MP John Penrose has welcomed today’s decision by the Health Secretary Matt Hancock to give Weston over £3.2million towards new primary care services in central Weston.

It is part of almost £1billion pledged by the Government to modernise and upgrade a variety of NHS services across the country to ensure world-class care in world-class facilities post Brexit.

John said: “Leaving the EU means we will have more freedom to spend our cash on the issues people care about. For many of us here in Weston, we’ll look straight towards improving our local health services and this is a welcome first instalment.”

Today’s £963 million investment in Sustainability andTransformation Plans (STPs) is part of a £2.9 billion fund made available tothe NHS by Government from 2017 to 2023 to modernise facilities and improvepatient care.
