Weston Mercury: Jobs fair helps to ‘oil the wheels of Weston’s economic rebirth’

Hundreds of jobseekers flocked to Weston-super-Mare’s Winter Gardens in search of a new career.

Weston Jobs Fair was held last week, with dozens of employers from a wide range of industries showcasing their vacancies.

Jobseekers also had access to careers experts, who offered invaluable guidance.

Weston MP John Penrose, whose team orchestrated the event, was pleased with the outcome of fair, and believes it plays an important role in linking employers to Weston’s ‘skilled workforce’.

He said: “Unemployment in Weston is well below the national average, but there are always new jobs and people looking for a change.

“The jobs fair is a way to oil the wheels of Weston’s economic rebirth by helping to match up firms and jobseekers quickly.

“The town has attracted lots more private investment and jobs.

“It’s been a team effort so far, and there’s plenty more to do.”
