MP Visits Incredible Social Enterprise

John Penrose MP visited local social enterprise Somerset Wood Recycling this week, after they won the Green Business Of The Year award at last month’s Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, to see the work they are doing in the local community.

They produce handmade furniture, or signs and playground apparatus for local parks and schools, all from recycled wood, while offering apprenticeships and training to local people, many from troubled backgrounds. Founders Tristan Tudor and Liz Roberts showed John the Winterstoke Road workshop and introduced him to their staff.

John said: “It’s amazing what Tristan and Liz’s team can create from anything from old wooden shipping pallets to empty MOD ammunition boxes. If it’s made of wood, they can use it. After I presented their award last month, it was great to meet their staff and see the work first-hand.”
