Somerset County Council has launched an online petition in a bid to get fairer funding from Government. The petition will ask Westminster to reconsider the funding of rural councils like Somerset.
This is something John Penrose feels strongly about and has always fought for. Earlier this week, John took signed petitions from the Mercury’s campaign for a fairer funding formula to Downing Street.
On the issue John has said: “In the past four years we’ve made big progress in levelling the playing field and getting fairer funding for schools, doctors and police in Weston and the villages. But the job’s not finished, so I won’t rest until it is.”
