Best Brexit

As Constitutional Reform Minister I delivered the EU Referendum Act and then campaigned to remain in the EU. But now we’ve made a collective democratic decision to leave, we all need to put the referendum campaign behind us and unite to make the best of it.

MPs are no different; we need to react positively and maturely to the mandate from the British people. We must not repackage ‘Remain’ and ‘Leave’ into ‘Soft Brexit’ and ‘Hard Brexit’ or try to unpick the result of the referendum. So I’ve set up the All Party Parliamentary Group on Best Brexit to find the deal for Britain as we leave the EU - not on the basis of ideology but based on what delivers the most jobs, security and wealth for the UK as a whole. It’s the only way we will heal our divided society, and bring the country back together.
