Excitement is building ahead of Weston Jobs Fair later this month, with employers on the hunt for talented people who are looking for work.

Weston College Conference Centre, in Lower Church Road, will host Weston-super-Mare MP John Penrose’s spring jobs fair on February 28 from 3-7pm.

The event boasts more opportunities than ever before thanks to an impressive list of businesses which will be in attendance.

The fair will also have an employability zone, which will offer tips to people who are finding it hard to get back into work.

Weston College will showcase a number of employment and education opportunities at the fair.

A spokesman for the college said: “We are delighted to be involved in Weston Jobs Fair this February.

“We will have a team on hand to help jobseekers with advice and guidance on apprenticeships and traineeships and have details of all our current apprenticeship vacancies, which you can apply for at the fair.”

Disability charity Brandon Trust is also searching for new employees.

Joely Kitson, of the trust, said: “Brandon Trust is a charity supporting adults and children with learning disabilities and autism.

“We believe that all people with learning disabilities should be able to live a life of freedom with fewer limitations.

“We’re looking for inspiring people to join us as support workers; to support people to live the lives they choose.

“We have full-time, part-time and casual roles available and provide full training, support to develop your career and a range of benefits.”

In his Mercury column this week, Mr Penrose commented: “More than 40 local firms and organisations should be there, so there should be opportunities for pretty much everyone.

But of course it’s not all about people hoping to change jobs, there’ll also be help for people who want to start or re-start their career.”
