John Penrose MP visited the Weston Super Mare Delivery Office to thank local postmen and women for their hard work during the Christmas rush and pass on season’s greetings to its hardworking staff.
This year is Royal Mail’s 500th anniversary, with this festive period marking half a millennium of delivering Christmas cards and parcels. John was shown around by Delivery Office Manager, Matt Gelder, and met the postmen and women who are pulling out all the stops to sort and deliver mail in Weston-super-Mare over Christmas.
John said: “I'm always impressed by the Royal Mail team’s hard work and dedication in the run-up to Christmas. There’s no stress or panic - it's mostly smiles and laughter, along with plenty of hard work. There were even a few Elf costumes on display!”
Matt Gelder, Royal Mail Delivery Office Manager, said: “It was a pleasure to show John our Christmas operation and to hear his kind words of encouragement and support.”
“We are extremely proud of our postmen and women for all their hard work during the Festive Season and for continuing our proud history of delivering Christmas mail.”
