Last Saturday saw the grand opening of the new Animal Discovery Barn at Puxton Park, with guests John Penrose MP, and Aardman’s Shaun the Sheep. The schedule of events included animal meet and greets, grooming demonstrations and shows with appearances from Shaun throughout the day.
The opening of this new attraction encompasses Puxton Park's aim to educate and entertain visitors, whatever the weather. The 30,000 square foot barn houses a 250 seat theatre, various animal enclosures and an education centre. With additional facilities for wheelchair users and a buggy park, the building provides a safe environment for all the family to engage with the animals in Puxton’s care.
Weston's MP, John Penrose, who cut the red ribbon said: "It’s always good to see successful local businesses growing fast and the new Animal Discovery Barn is their latest phase of expansion, creating more jobs as well as plenty of fun for local families.”
All activities within the Animal Discovery Barn are included in the price of entrance to the park. This coincides with the Owl Encounter and Miniature Train fares also being scrapped, in favour of increasing the value of the park entrance fee.
