Bristol Post: Weston's MP Reminds Parliament The Brexit Decision Has Been Made

E-mail Print

Weston-super-Mare MP John Penrose [said] it was time to get on with the leaving the European Union after 52 per cent of the country voted to leave.

Mr Penrose campaigned for a remain vote during the referendum but said that to go back on the result would have an "absolutely shattering" impact on the public's already declining confidence in public figures.

"The country has voted to leave the EU. Whether we in this room individually agree with it or not, the decision has been made," said Mr Penrose.

"If we now decide that we will not leave after all, and that we will hold another referendum instead, the outrage at an out-of-touch political class, deaf to the desire of the people who elected them, will be absolutely shattering."
